Giants eyeing Ravens HC John Harbaugh should he become available

Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh was doing his job under a microscope at the end of the season.

Fair or not, Harbaugh was criticized for not trying to get Baltimore in closer field goal range before rookie Tyler Loop missed a 44-yard attempt, giving the Pittsburgh Steelers the AFC North in a 26-24 win over the Ravens and eliminating Harbaugh's team from playoff contention with an 8-9 record.

There was speculation leading into the game that Harbaugh might look for a new start in 2026 if the Ravens lost on "Sunday Night Football."

Harbaugh, 63, might not have to wait long in the job market before landing a new gig if he decides to call it quits in Baltimore, the place he's coached since 2008 and won Super Bowl XLVII.

Per Ian O'Connor of The Athletic, the New York Giants have had internal talks about hiring Harbaugh if he decided to leave Baltimore. Former Cleveland Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski is the No. 1 target for New York, but that would change if Harbaugh became available.

"As we sit here right now, I think Kevin Stefanski is the leader in the Giants clubhouse," O'Connor posted on X. "The team has had internal conversations about John Harbaugh, as you would expect, in case he leaves the Ravens. Harbaugh would hurdle Stefanski if he's free."

John Harbaugh should consider the New York Giants

The Giants should be a job worth considering for Harbaugh. The marriage of Harbaugh and quarterback Lamar Jackson has not been fruitful. The pair have only won three playoff games since Jackson was drafted.

New York has a young core on offense that Harbaugh could build around with quarterback Jaxson Dart, wide receiver Malik Nabers and running back Cameron Skattebo.

The defense has key pieces, especially on the defensive line with Dexter Lawrence II, Brian Burns and Abdul Carter. Harbaugh would also have the No. 5 pick in April's draft to play with.
