Giants fan expands on second MetLife Stadium banner amid disastrous season

One week after a banner that flew over MetLife Stadium asked New York Giants co-owner John Mara to "please fix this dumpster fire," a different message warned Mara that "we won't stop until you fire everyone."

For a piece published after the Giants fell to 2-12 on the season via Sunday's lopsided 35-14 home loss to the Baltimore Ravens, the individual responsible for the latest banner spoke with Ryan Novozinsky of NJ Advance Media for NJ.com about the state of Big Blue under the leadership of head coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen.

"The biggest thing that the Mara family prides itself on is pride in themselves," that unnamed person said. "And so, if you’re able to make it more embarrassing, it will further force them to take action."

Giants fan Jack Kouba told Bridget Hyland of NJ Advance Media for NJ.com that "people are p-----" and "upset" about the fact that a regime responsible for a playoff win notched in January 2023 has since lost 23 of 31 regular-season contests. The person who sponsored the pre-Ravens game banner used a different word to describe his feelings.

"P----- is the wrong word. I’m apathetic," he said. "...And the worst part is that all evidence points to Schoen and Daboll doing a poor job. And somehow we have to have this conversation of, 'Are they coming back?'"

Following New York's latest loss, veteran wide receiver Darius Slayton interestingly said that "it seems like everybody will be here" and that "it just doesn’t feel like there’s going to be any changes made" this offseason. Such comments did little to appease a fan willing to spend money on a banner meant to force Mara into action.

"We’re embarrassed as fans," the supporter said. "Things like this will embarrass the team until they do something."

Mara can expect to see more planes and banners before New York's home finale against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 17 and before the Giants' Week 18 showdown at the rival Philadelphia Eagles. It remains to be seen if Daboll will still be employed following New York's game at the Atlanta Falcons this Sunday.

"Be better at your job," the fan added about his final message to Mara. "The Giants are not close. We’ve gotten worse every year under this regime. It’s time for a change."

SNY's Connor Hughes is among NFL insiders who believe such a change is "inevitable" even if Mara doesn't want to clean house roughly 24 months after a playoff win at the Minnesota Vikings that's now barely a memory for angry Giants fans.
