Giants fight at OTAs is the kind of chaos the Commanders can laugh about

The Washington Commanders have one of their best players in star wide receiver Terry McLaurin holding out in search of a better long-term contract, and they still have had a much less noisy and chaotic OTA period than their floundering NFC East rivals in the New York Giants.

The Giants, who used a first-round pick on a quarterback who is unlikely to play this season in Jaxson Dart, have created a situation that is so dire that head coach Brian Daboll and GM Joe Schoen could both be fired if they start losing. It seems like those tensions are rolling over to the players.

Giants practice ended early thanks to a very chaotic fight. Pass rusher Brian Burns and offensive tackles James Hudson got things started by pushing and shoving to a point where they had to be pulled off the field. Former Top 5 pick Kayvon Thibodeaux managed to take things up to 11.

Thibodeaux and offensive lineman Jermaine Eluemunor got into a scuffle in which Thibodeaux pulled Eluemunor's helmet off and threw a punch at him. Hudson retaliated by charging at Thibodeaux, which prompted a reprisal from Burns. Remember when the Commanders were the chaotic, crazy team?

Commanders fans can laugh at Giants after huge practice fight

The Giants not only have an unsettled quarterback situation and a coach who is on a seat so scalding hot that it could melt rebar, but they have been faced with the hardest schedule in the league. Daboll and his heated cast of characters certainly have their work cut out for them.

Washington, meanwhile, will head into the year with some of the best Super Bowl odds of any team in the NFC. Even if they fail to break through this season, hitting on Jayden Daniels as a starting quarterback could give them a championship window that stays open for decades.

Even as far back as half a decade ago, the Giants were viewed as fringe playoff contenders while Ron Rivera's teams struggled. The script has been well and truly flipped, as the Giants will be operating on a knife-edge for the entire 2025 season.
