Giants have many options at WR besides the first round of draft

The Giants must bolster their wide receiving corps, but they shouldn't force a WR pick in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft. New York has plenty of options at wideout, from free agency and Day 2 of the draft to the trade market.

In the draft, the Giants can target a wideout in the second round. Houston's Nathaniel "Tank" Dell “solidified himself as a second-round pick” at the 2023 Senior Bowl, according to PFF's Trevor Sikkema.

Dell would be a perfect fit with the Giants as a shifty WR with great route-running skills. He could also make an instant impact as a kick/punt returner, another position of need for Big Blue.

The top WR set to hit the open market is New England's Jakobi Meyers, who had 67 receptions for 804 yards and six touchdowns in 2022. Meyers has a competitive projected market value of $12.5 million on average annual value, per Spotrac.

Keenan Allen, who missed seven games with injuries in 2022, could become the top receiving option on the market if he is released by the Chargers. He totaled at least 900 receiving yards and 95 receptions in the five seasons prior to 2022. Allen, 30, probably could be signed at a reduced price.

In the trade market, the Giants could target Cincinnati's Tee Higgins. Per The Athletic, he "could be traded" for a top draft pick if the team can't reach an extension with him this offseason. The Giants could deal the 25th overall pick to Cincinnati for Higgins, who is coming off his second straight 1,000-yard receiving season.

The top WR prospects in the draft class, such as Jordan Addison and Quentin Johnston, are enticing. But the Giants have other needs. They can get wideouts elsewhere.

Of course, New York could also turn to an old friend, Odell Beckham Jr., who's a free agent. He's no longer a No. 1 wideout, but he'd at least be good for a few headlines.
