It turns out newly hired New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen didn't have to look all that far to find his head coach.
The Giants announced that they have hired Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Brian Daboll to be their next head coach. Schoen joined the Giants after serving as Bills assistant general manager and, thus, is quite familiar with the 46-year-old who will replace the fired Joe Judge:
Got our guy.

Daboll, who earned Associated Press NFL Assistant Coach of the Year honors for the 2020 season, became a hot head-coaching candidate over the past couple of years as Buffalo quarterback Josh Allen developed into one of the league's most electric weapons at the position capable of earning Most Valuable Player honors. He was the first candidate the Giants had back for a second interview during this process and beat out names such as former Miami Dolphins coach Brian Flores, current Giants defensive coordinator Patrick Graham and Bills defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier for the job.
Word was circulating on Friday, for what it's worth, that the Giants job was the one that Daboll wanted. Got a good vision for his staff there, and some guys I believe he'll keep on. Good deal for a guy who's waited for his shot. https://t.co/JA153EvJsl

An 11th-hour turn. Some in Giants brass, and many others, believed early in week it was Daboll & Dolphins.
Brian Flores had a chance, but it's Daboll to NYG
In his introductory press conference earlier this week, Schoen heavily suggested he was committed to giving Daniel Jones an opportunity to remain Big Blue's starting quarterback through the 2022 season even though it's unlikely the Giants will exercise the fifth-year option attached to Jones' rookie contract. Team co-owner John Mara made it clear that same day trading for Houston Texans star signal-caller Deshaun Watson is not an option this winter:
Giants were looking for a coach to help better develop Daniel Jones and the connection with Joe Shoen and Daboll is obvious. Here you go #giants fans

The job #Bills OC Brian Daboll did with Josh Allen was so impressive. Now, it’s on to Daniel Jones, who received a strong vote of confidence from ownership recently. https://t.co/o9OKXnfNtb
