Giants' Jaxson Dart, teammates 'really, really excited' about John Harbaugh

Jaxson Dart and his teammates knew the New York Giants were in the running to land John Harbaugh as their next head coach.

Dart, probably more than any player on the team, also had quite a bit of insight into the interview process. According to a report from Jordan Raanan of ESPN, the coach and his future quarterback spoke "at length" during the interview process.

They talked in person when Harbaugh interviewed with the Giants on Jan. 14, but they also spoke several times on the phone.

By the time all was said and done, Dart was convinced Harbaugh should be the Giants' next head coach, and many of his teammates felt the same way.

"When Coach Harbaugh's name came up, that was the one that we were all really, really excited about and wanted to have," Dart told ESPN. "So I think from just our standpoint, the guys just can't wait to play for him and have the chance to get coached by him."

Jaxson Dart and New York Giants excited to get rolling with John Harbaugh

Harbaugh spent 18 seasons with the Baltimore Ravens but was fired in early January after the Ravens went 8-9 and missed the playoffs for the first time since 2021.

He went 180-113 in Baltimore and won Super Bowl XLVII. Harbaugh wound up going just 4-7 in the playoffs since that Super Bowl win, though, and the Ravens ultimately decided it was time to try something new.

As far as Dart and the Giants are concerned, Baltimore's new direction has worked out in their favor. Dart spent a ton of time talking to his new coach before the hiring even became official, and he believes that he and his teammates will have an easy time buying in to the Harbaugh era in New York.

"He was just a coach who I feel like I just bought into the things that he was saying immediately, and just the way that he carries himself and can conduct himself in front of a room and his track record is incredible," Dart said. "So immediately the winning culture, the intensity, and then just the enthusiasm and love about football, that's what he carries and brings to the team. So, just can't wait to get started and get rolling with him."
