Another day, another chapter in the escalating feud between ex-New York Jets quarterback Boomer Esiason and New York Yankees legend Derek Jeter.
Esiason turned heads last week when he called Jeter an “elitist” for skipping the upcoming Old Timers’ Day at Yankee Stadium. Longtime Yankees radio announcer Suzyn Waldman subsequently revealed that Jeter won’t attend Old Timers’ Day because it coincides with his daughter’s birthday party.
New York Giants great Tiki Barber, who works with Esiason at WFAN, officially entered the fray on Monday afternoon. Barber said on his radio show that he saw Jeter in Cooperstown, N.Y, this past weekend at the National Baseball Hall of Fame ceremonies.
“He got so mad at Boomer [that] I had to go buy him shots,” Barber revealed.

“[Jeter was] so mad that I had to dump water on his head so he would cool down and chill out,” Barber continued. “Boomer should just call him! Just ask! He’s not an elitist.”
Esiason said on Tuesday morning that someone from Jeter’s camp recently emailed him regarding Old Timers’ Day. However, Esiason explained that while the email confirmed that Jeter has a family affair planned, it is not a child’s birthday party.
Jeter’s oldest daughter, Bella, turns 8 on Aug. 17.
“I believe there’s an inaccurate part of this story out there,” Esiason said. “There is something going on, I believe. But I don’t believe it’s what everybody thinks it is. But maybe I could be wrong.”
