Giants Punter Jamie Gillan Wins NFC Special Teams Player of the Week Honors

New York Giants punter Jamie Gillan has been named the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week winner for his performance in the Giant's Week 18 27-10 win over the Philadelphia Eagles. 

Gillan punted five times against the Eagles, placing four inside the 20. He averaged 45.6 yards gross and 44.0 net and had a length of 55 yards.

Gillan capped off his 2023 season by leading the NFC with 35 punts inside the 20 this season. His 95 punts and 35 inside the 20 each ranked third in the league.

He becomes the third Giantspunter to earn the Special Teams POTW honors, joining Jeff Feagles (Week 13, 2005) and Brad Wing (Weeks 14 and 15, 2006). 

Gillan becomes the second member of the Giants special teams to win the award this season, joining punt returner Gunner Olszewski, who earned it in the team's Week 17 game against the Los Angeles Rams after returning a 94-yard punt.

This is Gillan's second SpecialTeams POTW award. The left-footed "Scottish Hammer" first won it in Week 2 in 2019 as a member of the Cleveland Browns.

The Giants are the first team to have different players named Special Teams Player of the Week in consecutive weeks within a season since the 2020 New England Patriots, whose honoree in Week 12 was kicker Nick Folk and in Week 13 was punt returner Gunner Olszewski.

Gillan is the third Giant to win a POTW award this season, joining quarterback Tommy DeVito was the NFC Offensive Player of the Week after leading the Giants to a Monday night victory against Green Bay on Dec. 11 (Week 14). and Olsweski.
