Giants QB Daniel Jones a game-time decision vs. Dolphins?

New York Giants head coach Joe Judge refuted an earlier report while speaking with media members on Wednesday and said he hadn't yet ruled starting quarterback Daniel Jones out for Sunday's game at the Miami Dolphins after Jones suffered a strained neck in this past Sunday's 13-7 win over the Philadelphia Eagles.

Jones seemed hopeful he'd be in the lineup against Miami as of Wednesday, and senior offensive assistant and play-caller Freddie Kitchens suggested on Thursday the third-year pro is on track to play.

"I expect Daniel to come out today and practice and I fully expect it'll be just like regular old times," Kitchens said, per Ryan Morik of SNY.

Meanwhile, Judge added he's "waiting on medical opinions right now" after Jones was officially listed as limited for practice sessions on Wednesday and Thursday.

"If it’s a rookie, a young player, it’s tough to put them out there without having the reps on the field," Judge remarked during his latest comments about the situation. "You get a guy who’s been in the league a certain number of years, especially who has chemistry with the players … so for Daniel, obviously quarterbacks always need timing, they need the reps, but the way he prepares and the fact that he’s out here and he’s doing stuff with us, that’s different. So just in general terms, would I ever go up to game time with Daniel specifically? I would."

Backup Mike Glennon will get the nod in Miami if Jones can't go or is benched for precautionary reasons.

The 4-7 Giants remain part of a crowded NFC playoff picture but also need additional time to determine if they want to exercise the fifth-year option attached to Jones' rookie contract this offseason. According to Greg Johnson of The Trentonian, that would cost Big Blue roughly $21.4 million for the 2023 campaign.
