Giants QB Daniel Jones practices amid ankle concerns

The New York Giants temporarily had to use star running back Saquon Barkley as an emergency quarterback during this past Sunday's win over the Chicago Bears that improved Big Blue to 3-1 on the season after starter Daniel Jones went down with a sprained left ankle and backup Tyrod Taylor was placed in the concussion protocol.

New York's QB1 was back at work ahead of this coming Sunday's game against the 3-1 Green Bay Packers that will be held at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.

Per Tom Canavan of the Associated Press, Jones participated in Wednesday's practice on a limited basis and offered a promising update on his status for Week 5 later in the day.

"Yeah, it felt good to get out there and then working with the trainers and, you know, I made a lot of progress last couple of days," Jones remarked.

Practice squad quarterback Davis Webb will likely be added to the active roster if Jones and/or Taylor can't go on Sunday. The Giants are scheduled to leave for their journey across the pond on Thursday evening and consider Jones day-to-day.

"I’m confident in my ability to throw from a pocket, throw outside the pocket and make plays from both," Jones added about his ankle.

While Jones completed just eight-of-13 passes for 71 yards against the Bears, the 25-year-old also contributed 68 yards and a pair of scores on the ground before his ankle setback. Webb, meanwhile, has never thrown a pass in a regular-season NFL game.
