Giants QB Jameis Winston Announces News Outside of NFL

Jameis Winston may not have found sustained success in the NFL after his Rookie of the Year campaign, but he remains one of the league’s most beloved personalities, regardless of where he plays.

Winston signed a two-year, $8 million deal with the New York Giants last offseason. While rookie Jaxson Dart and veteran Russell Wilson handled most of the starting duties, Winston made two starts of his own, and both were entertaining.

Although the 32-year-old quarterback lost both games, he kept the Giants competitive and made the games exciting , even scoring a 33-yard receiving touchdown after receiving the ball back from wide receiver Gunner Olszewski. Winston finished the season with 567 passing yards and two touchdowns and is expected to return as the Giants’ backup for the 2026 season.

With his on-field role settled, Winston is earning recognition off it as well. The Pro Bowler was named the honorary starter for the 2026 Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg, where Norwegian standout Dennis Hauger made his debut.

Before the start of the race, Winston offered words of encouragement to Hauger and managed to get everyone fired up.

“Age ain’t nothing but a number,” Winston started. “You were built for this moment. Look at your team, everyone who helped you get to this point is intentional. The reason that you’re here right now. I don’t care if this is your first race, I don’t care if you’re a rookie. You have put in the work, your dedication is going to allow you to do your very best today. You better believe that.”

Winston also had some fun with Fox reporter Jack Harvey and, at one point, playfully grabbed the microphone from him.

It’s simply who he is, and given his personality, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him move into broadcasting after his NFL career, something he already appears to be building toward.
