Key Points:
Russell Wilson remained on the bench for the New York Giants for a third straight game on Sunday. Rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart remained at center for Week 8 as the Giants suffered defeat at the hands of the San Francisco 49ers, 34-24.
Dart registered 24-of-33 completed passes for 191 yards and two touchdowns, while also rushing eight times for 56 yards and a rushing TD. It was another noteworthy performance from the former Ole Miss Rebels star, who has done well since taking over the QB1 role from Wilson earlier this season.
Wilson, on the other hand, has remained on the outside looking in.
Wilson signed with the Giants in the offseason as a free agent. He put pen to paper on a one-year, $10.5 million deal. The 36-year-old struggled to start the season, though, losing all three games as New York’s new QB1. During that stretch, Wilson completed 65-of-110 passes (59.1%) for 778 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions.
It did not take long for head coach Brian Daboll to pull the plug on Wilson. The Giants selected Dart in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft as the 25th overall pick and was tipped to be the future franchise quarterback of the team. He got his chance early on with Wilson struggling, and Dart has not given up his starting spot since.
Wilson, though, is keeping himself busy off the field. On Monday, the veteran QB took to social media to announce an update away from football. This comes in the form of a new partnership with Cameo.
“What’s up, guys? Russell Wilson here,” he started. “I’m super, super excited about doing something I’ve been wanting to do for years, you guys have been asking for. Inspirational videos about faith, life, sports, anything you guys need coming your way. Unlimited videos on Cameo. Let’s go.”
Cameo is an online service that connects fans with celebrities through personalized videos. Fans can pick their celebrity of choice from Cameo’s massive database. For a fee, the celebrity will record a video greeting at the customer’s request.
Wilson is now listed as a celebrity partner on Cameo’s website. Fans can get a custom video from the NFL icon for $333+.
As for his future in football, Wilson’s current deal with the Giants will expire at the end of the season, which means that he will become an unrestricted free agent at the end of this current campaign.
