Cam Skattebo and the New York Giants continued to struggle to start the 2025 NFL season, falling to Spencer Rattler and the New Orleans Saints 26-14 in Week 5. Skattebo, who has taken on a larger role at running back in recent weeks, put together a solid outing with 15 carries for 59 yards and six receptions for another 45.
To begin the fourth quarter, the Giants trailed 19-14 and found themselves in the red zone, looking to take the lead. However, Skattebo received a handoff before Saints defensive tackle Bryan Bresee punched the ball out of his hand. New Orleans safety Jordan Howden ended up recovering the fumble and taking 86 yards the other way for a touchdown, increasing New York's deficit.
While this was just one of five Giants turnovers on the day, it may have been the most impactful. And Skattebo is well aware of his costly mistake, taking to social media to send an apology.
"Sorry giants fans!!!" Skattebo wrote on X. "I’ll be better for yall!!!! Love!!!"

The Giants have been rolling with a rookie backfield consisting of Skattebo and quarterback Jaxson Dart for the last couple of games, securing their first career win against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 4. Skattebo has impressed through his first five NFL games, recording 240 rushing yards and two touchdowns with another 143 receiving yards on 18 catches. Not to mention his elite pass blocking.
Up next for Skattebo and the Giants, a matchup with Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 6's edition of "Thursday Night Football."
