Cam Skattebo had a memorable rookie season with the New York Giants in 2025. After being selected in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, the former Arizona State Sun Devils star repaid New York’s decision by establishing himself as one of the top young running backs in the league.

Skattebo played eight games for the Giants before his season-ending ankle injury. During his limited time on the field, the 24-year-old registered 410 yards and five touchdowns on the ground. Skattebo also added 207 receiving yards and two touchdowns on 24 catches.

Skattebo has put in a lot of work in his rehab, and he is expected to be ready for the start of the new NFL season.

Apart from his strong performances on the field, Skattebo has won fans' hearts with his unique personality. His antics on and off the field have established him as one of the most popular young stars in the league.

Skattebo’s devil-may-care outlook recently got him into trouble, though. This is after the Giants RB made a controversial statement about CTE, a progressive degenerative brain disease that is common among NFL players. Skattebo said that he believes CTE is “an excuse.” He also went on to say that asthma is “fake too.”

Skattebo has received significant backlash over his strong take. So much so that he’s had to make a public apology.

“I recently did an interview and had a lapse in judgment, which resulted in me making a tasteless joke about CTE and asthma,” he posted on his Instagram stories on Saturday. “It was never my intention to downplay the seriousness of head injuries or asthma.

“I sincerely apologize to anyone that was offended by my remarks, and I assure you that I’ll be more mindful and respectful going forward. MUCH LOVE ❤️!!!”

To be fair, Skattebo decided to address the incident directly. He did not dance around the subject and fully admitted to his “lapse in judgment.”

Skattebo must treat this as a learning lesson. Fans love him for his strong personality, but this does not give him the right to be completely reckless with what he says.
