Giants Receive Big Roster News for Chiefs Game

The New York Giants are seeking their first win of the new NFL season after suffering back-to-back losses in their first two games.

This won’t be an easy task for the Giants, though, as they face off against the Kansas City Chiefs, who themselves are in dire need of a victory after also starting the campaign at 0-2.

The good news for the Giants is that they got a considerable boost ahead of Sunday’s Week 3 clash at MetLife Stadium. This comes in the form of 26-year-old offensive lineman Andrew Thomas finally getting the green light to make his season debut for New York.

This report comes via Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network.

“#Giants standout LT Andrew Thomas, who has yet to play this season while recovering from a Lisfranc injury, is planning to make his debut on Sunday, per me and @MikeGarafolo,” Rapoport posted on X.

The report also indicates that the Giants are remaining cautious on Thomas, who suffered a season-ending foot injury in Week 6 last year. The former fourth-overall pick will reportedly work out pregame just to be sure, but at this point, the team expects him to be on the field against Kansas City.

Thomas’ return, among other things, will provide more pass protection for new quarterback Russell Wilson, who is still seeking his first win with the Giants. Thomas is arguably New York’s best offensive tackle, and his return to the lineup should serve as a significant boost to their offense — especially against the Chiefs’ strong pass-rushing game.

It is important to note, however, that the Giants will likely ease Thomas back into action, which could mean a limited snap count in his first game back. The last thing New York wants is for the former No. 4 overall pick to re-aggravate the injury.

However, so long as everything goes according to plan, Thomas should be back at full strength sooner rather than later, which can only be good news for the Giants.
