Giants’ Roy Robertson-Harris Lands On IR

As part of a series of roster moves on Wednesday, the Giants moved Robertson-Harris from the active/physically unable to perform list to injured reserve. They also waived wide receiver Beaux Collins with an injury designation and signed defensive backs D.J. James and David Long.

Unless the Giants release Robertson-Harris, the IR transaction will wipe out any chance of him suiting up this season. The 6-foot-7, 300-pounder had been preparing to play the second season of a two-year, $9MM contract. Robertson-Harris was a 17-game starter in his first year in New York, where he played 56% of defensive snaps, totaled 35 tackles and recorded six quarterback hits. He finished 2025 as Pro Football Focus’ 91st-ranked interior defensive lineman out of 127 qualifiers.

Robertson-Harris could have continued to fill an important role this season, especially after the Giants traded D-line anchor Dexter Lawrence to the Bengals, but will instead spend it rehabbing. He will then return to free agency at an inopportune time in 2027, when he will be nearing age 34 and coming off a major injury. Meanwhile, the Giants will lean on Darius Alexander, D.J. Reader and Shelby Harris, among others, to help fill the voids left by Robertson-Harris and Lawrence.

The Giants did not provide details on Collins’ injury, but he will revert to IR if he goes unclaimed on waivers. Despite going undrafted in 2025, the Notre Dame product earned a roster spot as a rookie. While playing nine games and 193 snaps (109 on special teams, 84 on offense), Collins caught two passes for 25 yards.
