Giants Sign Cam Skattebo to Rookie Deal

The New York Giants have finally signed their entire 2025 NFL Draft class.

That came to a head on Wednesday when the Giants signed running back Cam Skattebo to his rookie contract.

As first reported by Art Stapleton, Skattebo’s deal is worth $5.271 million over four years with a $1.1 million signing bonus.

It isn’t immediately clear why Skattebo took so long to sign, whether it be the bonus structure, offset language, or another factor. It wasn’t, however, a matter of the base value. His $5.271 million is determined by his draft slot and cannot be negotiated.

Skattebo was the 105th pick in the fourth round, opening the Day 3 festivities.

He won’t be expected to start right away, if at all. But there is a role for him in the offense, and it stems from his physicality and contact balance. He’s an ideal stylistic complement to running back Tyrone Tracy Jr., who found success as a fifth-round rookie.

Day 3 running backs stand on notoriously unsteady ground, meaning it’s possible Skattebo encroaches on Tracy’s playing time.

For now, though, he is poised to settle between Tracy and veteran Devin Singletary on the depth chart, filling in on short-yardage situations.

“How many snaps of the NFL have you seen me play? Zero, right? I've proved nothing,” Skattebo said shortly after being drafted. “I've proved what I am in college, but I've proved nothing at this level. So now where I'm at, I have to prove myself and if that's for five years or if that's for 10 years, I'm going to continue to prove myself. I'm the best, do it for the longest, so continue to do that and just work my butt off until time comes.”

Skattebo offers a promising blend of passing-down prowess and powerful running style. He can pass protect better than Tracy but offers less consistent potency as a big-play threat.

New York will have to balance those scales as it deploys both backs in 2025.
