Giants Star Announced as Pro Bowl Replacement

New York Giants receiver Malik Nabers had one of the best rookie seasons in recent memory. Now, he’ll have an afternoon to celebrate it.

On Monday, the Giants announced a Pro Bowl bid for the rookie phenom.

He was initially listed as a Pro Bowl alternate. Detroit Lions receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown initially made the roster as a starter, but has withdrawn from the event with an undisclosed injury.

As a result, Nabers will be headed to Orlando for the weekend meant to celebrate the game’s biggest stars.

The Pro Bowl Games will begin on Thursday and culminate in a flag-football game on Sunday, Feb. 2.

Stiff competition at the receiver position made Nabers the first man out, but he’s earned his spot as the primary alternate. Despite missing two games, Nabers’ 170 targets was the second most in football. He finished the 2024 season with 109 catches, 1,204 yards, and seven touchdowns – all without legitimate quarterback play.

St. Brown, for comparison’s sake, turned 141 targets into 115 receptions, 1,263 yards, and 12 scores on the NFC’s premier offense.

Nabers set the franchise record for catches in a season and joined running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. as the third pair of rookies in league history to be on the same team and surpass 1,000 yards from scrimmage each.

The receiver immediately proved himself as worthy of the top-10 selection he was in April, and by the end of September established himself as one of the game’s best receivers, regardless of qualifier.

He’s a foundational piece of New York’s offense and a legitimate blue-chip talent to build around. In a flag football game, he may be the most well-equipped player on the field.

Fans can watch Nabers over the weekend on ESPN.
