Giants Star Dexter Lawrence Major Award Win Revealed

The New York Giants have several problems hindering their perception. Defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence being underrated isn’t one of them.

For three consecutive years, fans have voted him to the Pro Bowl, and the media gave him All-Pro flowers in 2022 and 2023.

On Wednesday, the NFLPA announced its player-voted All-Pro team. If there was ever any doubt about how Lawrence’s peers feel about him, his nomination at nose tackle put them to rest.

Lawrence has been named a first-team All-Pro by the players in each of the last three seasons, and it’s hard to argue with his undisputed placement atop the titans in the interior. Nobody in football accumulates pressures from the nose tackle spot like Lawrence, giving him a two-dimensional game virtually impossible to find in his 340-pound frame.

He headlined New York’s defense again in 2024, helping edge rusher Brian Burns acclimate himself as the Robin to Lawrence’s Batman. The Giants’ pass rush looked the part in the first half of the season.

What makes Lawrence’s nomination so impressive is the limited opportunities he had to prove his worth. After dominating for much of the season, he injured his elbow on Thanksgiving and missed the rest of the season. It’s no surprise that nobody made up ground.

One could argue that 2024 was the best season of Lawrence’s career, regardless of the five games he missed. In 12 contests, he managed to set career-best marks in sacks (nine) and tackles for loss (eight), all the while burdened by offensive circumstances and detrimental game scripts.

Lawrence was the Giants’ lone representative, but not the only one to ever wear New York’s uniform. Green Bay Packers safety Xavier McKinney and Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley – both members of the last Giants playoff team and 2024 free agents – received the same recognition from their peers.

New York will hope Lawrence is joined by a teammate or two on next year’s list.
