Giants Take Shot at Rival Superstar in Schedule Release

Wednesday was the Super Bowl for social media teams, with the NFL schedule release giving teams the green light to take creative liberties otherwise deemed unacceptable.

Taking shots at players, coaches, and famous fans isn’t out of the question. In the name of going viral, it’s essentially encouraged. The New York Giants joined in on the festivities with a release video of their own, based on the reality television show “Love Island.”

In doing so, they had a person represent each team, with jokes built in for each one. The Dallas Cowboys fan was a past-their-prime cheerleader; the Kansas City Chiefs had a not-so-subtle Taylor Swift impersonation with an affinity for zebras.

One that caught fans’ attention was the Washington Commanders, whom New York made fun of by having a person who wasn’t quite sure what their name was.

“You can call me Bob, Robert, Bobby, it’s OK,” they said.

Washington’s name changes have taken it from the Redskins to the Football Team to the Commanders. Changing it again wouldn’t be much of a surprise, either.

By the end of the video, the Giants also took a shot at their rival’s superstar quarterback, Jayden Daniels – by poking fun of his mom.

“Yeah, don’t tell my mom I’m here, OK?” the actor said.

Daniels has earned a reputation for having a mother who is a bit… overprotective. She’s been vocal about not wanting him to date much or get into other distractions, and she’s been joining him for a handful of events.

It’s not much of a story, but it’s enough ammo to be made fun of.

The Giants will visit Washington to begin the season and host them coming out of their bye week in Week 15. Last season, the Commanders took both games, the first of which was defined by a special teams injury that hampered New York’s efforts.

Daniels was the runaway Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2024. This time around – at least in the latter matchup – it might be Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart hoping to prove himself.

If nothing else, New York’s improved roster should make for a better set of games in 2025.
