Giants To Sign DT Dean Lowry

Lowry spent his first eight NFL seasons in the NFC North. A Green Bay tenure spanning 2016-22 was followed by a single campaign in Minnesota. In 2024, the 32-year-old made 12 appearances for the Steelers before suffering an ACL tear in training camp last summer. Lowry re-signed with Pittsburgh but his time on that new contract proved to be short-lived.

The Steelers cut a number of veterans on their way to 53 last week. Lowry was among the defenders who were let go, making him a free agent immediately. The former fourth-rounder has managed to find a new gig ahead of Week 1. Lowry will now join Malik Harrison – who was also let go by Pittsburgh – on the Giants’ practice squad.

Shortly before the draft, New York granted Dexter Lawrence’s trade request and worked out a deal to send him to the Bengals. Finding replacements for the three-time Pro Bowler was a key goal of the Giants’ offseason. Returnees Roy Robertson-Harris and Darius Alexander are joined on the 53-man roster by free agent signings D.J. Reader and Shelby Harris along with trade acquisition C.J. Okoye. Lowry could join that group if he finds himself promoted from the practice squad in short order.
