Giants unwilling to meet price for Broncos wide receiver Jerry Jeudy?

The New York Giants may not be willing to part ways with the draft assets needed to acquire Denver Broncos wide receiver Jerry Jeudy before Tuesday's trade deadline.

"Everyone naturally points to receiver," ESPN's Jordan Raanan said about Big Blue's needs coming off Sunday's 27-13 loss at the Seattle Seahawks that dropped the Giants to 6-2 on the season heading into their bye week. "It's certainly a need, but the Giants are just as likely to add to their defensive line considering their struggles stopping the run this season. They lacked depth and lost veteran Nick Williams (biceps) on Sunday.

"A receiver is still possible, but only if it makes sense for the future and doesn't cost premium draft capital, which is likely the case with Denver's Jerry Jeudy. General manager Joe Schoen remains realistic about where this 6-2 roster stands."

The Giants were linked with Jeudy before Sunday's NFL action and after they sent wide receiver Kadarius Toney to the Kansas City Chiefs for a compensatory third-round pick and a sixth-round pick last week. Raanan added on Monday that New York is interested in landing Jeudy before Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET but only at the right price:

ESPN stats show the Giants began Monday 30th in the league with 159.1 passing yards per game. First-year Giants head coach Brian Daboll is familiar with Jeudy from when the two were with the Alabama Crimson Tide in 2017. Daboll served as Alabama's offensive coordinator that season.

One potential problem for the Giants as it pertains to Denver's asking price regarding Jeudy is that the Broncos improved to 3-5 on the season with Sunday's 21-17 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars. As noted by the NFL's website, Denver is mathematically very much part of a crowded AFC playoff picture as of the final day of October.

Following their break, the Broncos next play at the Tennessee Titans (5-2) on Nov. 13. That same day, the Giants will host the Houston Texans (1-5-1).
