Giants Welcome 4 Free Agents to Minicamp

The New York Giants have made their biggest moves of the off-season, making two first-round picks and signing several contributors, including quarterback Russell Wilson, safety Jevon Holland, and corner Paulson Adebo.

The player-acquisition phase of the off-season is over, but as the post-minicamp wait to training camp begins, several decisions must be made pertaining to the 90-man roster. This coaching staff has made a point to get the best 11 players on the field at the same time. That process begins by churning through fringe-roster candidates on the 90-man, hoping to find developmental projects and depth pieces for the 53-man roster in Week 1.

Subsequently, the search is on, and will likely resume with training camp in late July.

The Giants welcomed four free agents to minicamp on Tuesday.

Chief among them was safety K’Von Wallace. He was joined by fellow safety Millard Bradford, edge rusher Kenny Dyson, and guard Carter O’Donnell, per Big Blue View.

Wallace struggled in his limited 2024 action with the Seattle Seahawks. In 2023, he split time between the Arizona Cardinals and Tennessee Titans. Where the New York faithful are most familiar with Wallace is his work with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Wallace’s versatility was a key part of his profile, allowing him to play the run and blitz while also taking typical free safety snaps. However, his coverage chops never quite stuck in the NFL, relegating him to increasingly minor roles.

He figures to have a chance at the Giants roster/practice squad thanks to his special teams opportunities, which have helped keep him rosterable despite his inconsistencies.

Bradford’s only NFL snaps have come on special teams. O’Donnell, an undrafted rookie from the 2020 draft class, has the versatility to play both guard spots but only saw real action in 2023 (at left guard). Dyson, an undersized edge rusher without imposing athleticism, appeared in two games for the Carolina Panthers last season.

Getting looks this late in the off-season makes one a long shot to make the roster, but from this crop of candidates, it seems like Wallace is easily the most likely to earn a shot later in camp.

The team did not announce any roster moves after the workout.
