Jalin Hyatt Reveals What Malik Nabers Told Him After His Injury

Nabers is one of the best young wide receivers in the NFL, having recorded 109 receptions, 1,204 receiving yards, and seven touchdowns during his rookie campaign last season. It is going to be difficult for New York to replace his production, but according to Hyatt, the Louisiana native believes that he can be the one to step up and make life easier for Dart and the team in his absence.

"We had a long talk,” Hyatt said. “He’s one of my best friends on this team. He’s been in my corner, he’s kind of seen the adversity I’ve been through. He just told me it’s my chance, this is the time for me to do what I’ve got to do. So I’m going to be ready. I just can’t wait to go out, play Sunday, play with Jaxson [Dart], and get a win.”

Hyatt is in the midst of his third season with the Giants after the team drafted him in the third round in 2023.

The South Carolina native had a decent rookie season, recording 23 receptions and 373 yards. However, Hyatt saw a big drop in his snap count last season, going from playing 51% to 33% of his possible snaps. And, so far this season, that has dropped even lower to 25%. Furthermore, Hyatt has yet to be targeted a single time through two games.

With Nabers on the shelf, Hyatt will have more opportunities to see the field and potentially take on a bigger role. The Giants will also continue to rely more heavily on Darius Slayton and Wan'Dale Robinson to make up for Nabers' absence, but the Tennessee alum is another player worth keeping an eye on to see how much he can produce.

New York's next game will be on the road against the 0-4 New Orleans Saints on Sunday. As the Giants look to move forward without Nabers, this will be a great opportunity for some receivers to step up, and that especially includes Hyatt.
