Star edge rusher Trey Hendrickson is looking for a new contract from the Cincinnati Bengals and Buccaneers linebacker Lavonte David thinks he should get it. He discussed the saga with Kay Adams on Up & Adams.
The 13-year NFL veteran saw Hendrickson's dominance firsthand when he suited up for the Saints.
"I feel like he's a consistent player, and I feel like, you know, he's still going to bring those sacks and those pressures that the team needs and continue to be a key player for them," David stated. "Because I just remember when he was playing with the Saints, he was dominating us as a rookie, creating havoc and things like that. And he's still doing it right now to this day. So that's the main thing for me, if you see a guy who's consistently improving and improving, people should give him what he's due."
Hendrickson has been a stalwart on Cincinnati's defensive line as so much has changed around him lin the past few seasons. No one in the league had to work harder for their sacks in 2024.
According to ESPN, Hendrickson created 26 sacks for himself and his teammates a year ago, 11.5 more than any other player. He's the only player to create 20-plus sacks since ESPN created the metric in 2017.
Mandatory minicamp is approaching and Hendrickson is not with the team.
