Glenn: Several Jets Starters Won’t Play in Preseason Finale
Rich Barnes-Imagn Images

Those wondering whether or not the Jets will play their starters when they wrap up the preseason against the Eagles got their answer from head coach Aaron Glenn.

Meeting with the press after practice, Glenn said a “good amount” of starters will not play this week.  He said this will be in an effort to allow coaches to evaluate some of the team’s younger players who can use some more action.

There were no specifics as to who would sit and who would start, but there is speculation that quarterback Justin Fields will sit.  If so, this will mean Fields played two games and threw nine passes to get ready for week 1.  We’ll see in time if that approach works.

Expect to see plenty of rookie free agent Brady Cook and veteran signal caller Adrian Martinez under center.

Today’s practice was a good one for the offense as a whole as Fields was mostly sharp and hit a variety of receivers in both 11-on-11 and 7-on-7 sessions.  The offense did stall out in the team’s move the ball period, however.
