After making the blockbuster trade for Micah Parsons ahead of the 2025 season, the Green Bay Packers announced another roster move involving the four-time Pro Bowler following his season-ending ACL tear.
Parsons suffered the injury in Sunday's 34-26 loss to the Denver Broncos while trying to get to second-year quarterback Bo Nix, but unfortunately his knee buckled without contact and he went down in a heap of pain.
Despite that Parsons was able to walk back to the locker room with the help of Green Bay's training staff. However, it was clear at the time that whatever happened to him wasn't going to be good.
On Wednesday, GM Brian Gutekunst and the team announced that they placed their star defensive end on injured reserve — officially putting an end to Parsons' season.
In 14 games (13 starts), Parsons recorded 41 tackles and a team-high 12.5 sacks to go along with 12 tackles for loss, 26 QB hits and an NFL-leading 83 pressures. Micah was also named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week back in Week 7 and named the NFC Defensive Player of the Month for October.
Despite missing the Packers' final three games, Parsons remains the only player in NFL history to log 12+ sacks in each of their first five seasons — surpassing the late, great Reggie White.

While details of Micah's upcoming surgery remain pretty scarce, a window into recent Packers players who have undergone similar ACL reconstruction could provide a window into his recovery timeline.
When wide receiver Christian Watson tore the same ligament in the final week of last season, he was able to return within 294 days and miss just three games at the start of 2025. However, fellow pass rusher Rashan Gary had a bit of a longer recovery when he had to wait 308 days to play again back in 2022.
We'll see which end of the spectrum Micah ends up on by the time he gets back. But for now his absence puts a huge damper on Green Bay's Super Bowl hopes in '25.
