The Green Bay Packers (2-2) and Los Angeles Rams (1-3) will kick off the late Sunday afternoon slate of NFL Week 5. Kickoff is set for 4:25 p.m. ET from SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif., on FOX, and the game can be streamed on YouTube TV and other streaming platforms.
The Packers are consensus 3-point favorites over the Rams (Packers -3) after the spread opened at Rams – 1.5 before the season. The over/under is 48.5 after opening at that same number. The Packers are -175 to win outright, while the Rams are +145 to pull off the upset.
The Packers lost 31-29 to the Vikings last week. Jordan Love returned and started shakily but got going in the second half. In 2 games this season, he’s averaging 324.5 passing yards per game and has thrown 6 touchdowns and 4 interceptions. The Rams lost 24-18 to the Bears last week. Los Angeles is depleted by injuries and will still be without Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp for this game.
Let’s get into my Packers vs. Rams prediction and my NFL picks and predictions for Week 5.
My Rams vs. Packers best bet is on Los Angeles. For all of your NFL bets, be sure to find the best lines by using our live NFL odds page.
I’m fading the Packers here. I’m not convinced Jordan Love is 100%, and the Rams can’t afford another loss. I’ll back Sean McVay to get the win his team needs.
I’m not betting either moneyline.
I’m in line with the total for this game and have no bet.
My pick: Rams +3
This feels like a trap game for Green Bay. The whole world saw what Jordan Love did in the second half last week against the Vikings and assumes he’ll be back to normal here.
It’s a great matchup for the Packers offense potentially, too. This Rams team is coming off another loss and looks like it’s close to having its season go off the rails.
I’d argue the Vikings weren’t really throwing anything at Love, though, after getting out to a huge lead. They were focused on avoiding big plays and weren’t putting too much pressure on Love. I’m not sold he’s 100% and isn’t still hampered moving around the pocket from the knee injury he suffered back in Week 1.
This game sets up well for what the Rams have done best on offense this season: run the ball. Kyren Williams has been a top-five running back in the NFL despite all of the injuries to the Rams offensive line. Sean McVay still has Williams thriving, and he’s the focal point of this Rams offense without Puka Nacua or Cooper Kupp.
This feels like a game the Rams either win or lose by two points. That’s how pro bettors are viewing it, which is why I’m not sold on the Packers.
Also, this is the Rams’ last gasp. Matthew Stafford doesn’t have too much time left, and his future will be brought into question if the Rams lose this one. If Los Angeles is going to make anything of its season, it needs to win this game going into its bye week.
I like Rams +3, I’d hope there’s enough action on the Packers to move this line to Rams +3.5.
Pick: Rams +3
