The Green Bay Packers released Jaire Alexander during OTAs, but the team still has uncertainty at the starting cornerback position before their Week 1 matchup with the Detroit Lions.

On Monday night, a report from Sports Illustrated’s Bull Huber surfaced that cornerback Nate Hobbs underwent a preventative surgery on his knee after he missed two practices. Per early reports, the Packers hoped he could return in as soon as three weeks.

Green Bay Packers unsure when Nate Hobbs will return

Before Tuesday’s practice, head coach Matt LaFleur told the media that he would put no timetable on when the former Las Vegas Raiders starter would return to the field for Green Bay.

“I’m not going to put a timetable on it,” LaFleur said. “But unfortunately, (Hobbs) had to have something cleaned up. We’re hoping to get him back here sooner than later.”

Per Rob Demovsky of ESPN, Hobbs is expected to miss the remainder of training camp, his first with the Packers since he signed a four-year deal with Green Bay worth $48 million in March. The issue is a partial meniscus tear.

“Sources on Tuesday told ESPN that the surgery was to repair a partial meniscus tear,” Demovsky wrote. “The surgery took place Saturday at 7 a.m. and did not include any other complications, according to one source.”

Like Jaire Alexander, Hobbs has a history of injury. The 26-year-old has missed 22 games over his first four seasons in the league due to injuries to his ankle and hand and illness.
