The Green Bay Packers are facing an early problem before the 2026 season. Star pass rusher Micah Parsons may miss the first few games while he recovers from a serious knee injury.

Parsons tore his left ACL in Week 15 last season. The injury ended what had been a strong first year with the team. Now, the Packers must get ready to start the season without one of their best defensive players.

According to Matt Schneidman from The Athletic, Parsons could miss three to four games. The report also says he may avoid the PUP list during training camp, which gives the team hope he can return sooner.

Defense Faces Big Test Without Parsons

Parsons made a quick impact after joining the Green Bay Packers in a big trade from the Dallas Cowboys. He recorded 12.5 sacks in just 14 games. He also added 41 tackles and 79 pressures. Those numbers earned him First Team All-Pro honors and his fifth straight Pro Bowl.

Now, his absence leaves a big gap. The defensive line already looks weak. Rashan Gary is now in Dallas . Lukas Van Ness has not fully stepped up yet. Javon Hargrave cannot handle everything on his own.

Green Bay needs to find solutions quickly. The team could look for help in the 2026 NFL Draft. But the Parsons trade cost them key picks, which limits their options. They may need short-term fixes instead.

There is still hope. If Parsons returns healthy, he can change the defense. A strong draft pick could also help. A coach like Jonathan Gannon, known for improving defenses, could make a difference too.

Still, everything depends on Parsons’ recovery. If he struggles after the injury, the Packers could have a tough season. Without him at full strength, a deep playoff run looks unlikely.

For now, Green Bay must stay patient. The team will start the season without its biggest star and try to hold on until he returns.
