Jaire Alexander is no longer a question mark for the Green Bay Packers heading into the 2025-26 season. The veteran cornerback was released by the team this week, making him one of the higher-profile names on the free agent market currently. While injury concerns will continue to hang over Alexander, his talent and ability is undeniable, making some experts consider him as an x-factor for several Super Bowl contenders.
After seven seasons with the Green Bay Packers, veteran cornerback Jaire Alexander was released by the team this week. After months of speculation about if Alexander could potentially be traded, GM Brian Gutekunst and company made the decision to release him outright. Gutekunst stated that the situation just “did not work out” and it was time to move on.
The Packers will move forward with returning talent like Carrington Valentine and Keisean Nixon playing on the outside. They will be joined by expensive free agent addition Nate Hobbs , who is traditionally a nickel corner. The talented secondary is also made up of young, promising players like Javon Bullard, Evan Williams , and Xavier McKinney.
Meanwhile, as Alexander is in search for a new team, several NFL experts are penning him as an “x-factor” for two AFC contenders hoping to dethrone the Kansas City Chiefs.
Both the Buffalo Bills and the Baltimore Ravens have been struggling to find a way past the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC. As the Chiefs have ruled the conference for several seasons now, both teams continue to search for answers. Some NFL experts think that Alexander could be the final piece for either team.
NFL expert Benjamin Solak reviewed Alexander’s game tape after his release, and remained confident that he could be a strong CB2 in his post-Packers career. He suggested that Buffalo investigate bringing him onboard, given their recent struggles with cornerback health.
Watched a bit of Jaire Alexander today. Pretty confident the days of consistent CB1 man coverage are gone, but the ball skills and eyes in zone remain good (if he plays disciplined/doesn’t freestyle)
Can see a solid second arc to his career as a CB2. Bills interest makes sense.

Buffalo has already ushered injury-prone Pro Bowler Tre’Davious White out the door in recent times. Where White had multiple significant injuries to his lower body, Alexander is someone who actually has a more promising track record health-wise. Despite various nagging problems, Alexander has avoided ACL tears and other major issues.
Interestingly, White spent last season with the Baltimore Ravens, the other team battling at the top of the conference. Baltimore has needed CB help desperately in recent times, and although young players Nate Wiggins and Ar’Darious Washington seems promising, the secondary crew led by Marlon Humphrey has not been good enough.
ESPN expert Mina Kimes added the Baltimore Ravens to Solak’s list of teams in need of corner help. Kimes feels that Alexander could be the last piece to take either team over the top and past Kansas City.
cb2 was my X factor for both bills and ravens, which is why he’d make sense for both imo

Rumors of Alexander joining Baltimore have existed for a while now. After all, Alexander and Lamar Jackson were college teammates at Louisville prior to their NFL days. Solak was immediately intrigued by the possibility.
Ravens. RAVENS. I’m listening

While teams appeared to be unwilling to trade for Alexander given his expensive contract as well as his injury history, the market will likely be much larger for a team signing Alexander to a cheaper, shorter-term deal.
Outside of the AFC, other cornerback-needy teams includes Kimes’ favorite, the Seattle Seahawks, the division-rival Minnesota Vikings, and the New York Giants.
