The Green Bay Packers started the new week practicing on the field on Monday, as they continue their preparation for the upcoming 2025 NFL regular season.
The Packers may go as far as where star quarterback Jordan Love takes them, which is also why his health will always be closely monitored.
On Monday, the former Utah State Aggies gunslinger had a noticeable conversation with head coach Matt LaFleur, vice president of player health and performance Bryan Engel and director of sports medicine/head athletic trainer Nate Weir, with the QB’s left thumb also sporting a wrap. Although he was able to practice in full, the sight of Love’s thumb in such fashion still sparked intrigue.
However, it doesn’t seem to be anything that the Packers and their fans should be overly worried about.
Via Rob Demovsky of ESPN:
"QB Jordan Love practiced with his left thumb taped. He did everything but was talking to members of the athletic training staff afterward. Did not appear to be a high level of concern."
Love throws with his right hand, so that’s another reason to feel relieved for Packers fans. He even figured in a touchdown play by the Packers in practice, as he connected with wide receiver Savion Williams.
Via Mike Spofford of the Packers’ official website:
"The Packers practiced two-point conversions at the end of practice, and the No. 1 offense went just 1-for-3, with Williams getting the score on a short pass at the goal line from QB Jordan Love."
It remains to be seen how much action Love will see on the field in Week 2 of the 2025 NFL preseason versus the Indianapolis Colts on the road this coming Saturday, but it won’t be surprising if Green Bay keeps him on the sidelines for the entire contest.
In last week’s 30-10 loss at home to the New York Jets, Love had seven yards on just 1-of-5 pass completions.
