The Green Bay Packers finalized a big deal before the start of the team’s training camp, as they signed fourth-year right tackle Zach Tom to a four-year contract extension worth $88 million. The deal includes a $30.2 million signing bonus. According to Rob Demovsky of ESPN, Tom’s signing bonus is “believed to be the largest for an offensive lineman.”
This ends the offseason saga between the Packers and Tom, who spoke about his situation back in June.
“I don’t really think it’ll do me any good to sit out,” Tom said at the time (h/t Demovsky). “I’m trying not to worry about the contract situation. I’m just trying to do what’s best for the team. And being here with the guys, I think that’s worth a lot more than — the contract situation will take care of itself. So, I’m just here working and grinding with the guys. If I wasn’t here, I’d probably be somewhere just not doing anything, I don’t know. So, yeah, I want to be here obviously.”
With Tom’s future secured in Green Bay, Jordan Love can expect quality protection from the former Wake Forest Demon Deacon OL for years to come.
The Packers star quarterback appeared to acknowledge Tom’s extension deal with the Packers by resharing Green Bay’s post about its latest move.
Keeping Love upright in the pocket is unquestionably one of the most important goals for Green Bay, especially after he dealt with injuries in the 2024 season. Tom is a big part of that mission, and at just 26 years old, the Packers have assured themselves, through the contract, of some of his prime years in the league
