There is a lot to like for the Green Bay Packers about running back Josh Jacobs. Aside from being an excellent option in their rushing attack, Jacobs knows how to act like a leader on and off the field.
On Wednesday, the three-time Pro Bowl tailback opened up about his style in the locker room, unafraid to call out what he feels needed to be pointed out, even if it “ruffles some feathers.”
“I feel like, you know, one thing about being a leader, it’s not always easy and it’s not always doing what’s comfortable,” Jacobs said (h/t Zach Jacobson of 247Sports).
Added Jacobs: “Sometimes, you’ve got to ruffle some feathers. Sometimes, we’ve got to hold each other accountable—and that’s something that I try to do. I try to say the things that people are afraid to say, you know. Whether I’m talking to [Xavier McKinney] or I’m talking to [Jordan Love], it doesn’t really matter. Everybody’s got to be held to a certain type of standard, even myself.”
Jacobs was a steady force on offense for the Packers in his first season with the team in 2024.
After signing a four-year contract worth $48 million with the Packers in March of 2024, Jacobs immediately became the clear top option in Green Bay’s running game that was previously led by Aaron Jones.
Jacobs proved to be a durable and effective running back for the Packers last season, as he burned rubber for a total of 1,329 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns on 301 carries while adding 342 receiving yards and a touchdown on 36 receptions and 43 targets.
