Green Bay Packers Limp Towards Thanksgiving Showdown

The Green Bay Packers are looking a little banged up heading into their big Thanksgiving Day game against the Detroit Lions, with a couple of key players on the mend. While there’s a glimmer of hope for running back Josh Jacobs, the injury report is starting to look like a long grocery list.

Jacobs, who sat out last week’s game against the Vikings with a knee injury, was back on the field for a second straight day but in a limited capacity. The team is clearly being cautious with their star running back, who’s nursing a bone bruise and a thigh contusion. Getting him back for a divisional clash against the Lions would be a huge boost, but the short week isn’t doing him any favors.

Keisean Nixon’s Status a Concern for the Secondary

Cornerback Keisean Nixon is another name drawing attention on the injury list. He was also a limited participant in Tuesday’s walkthrough due to a neck issue. This is a step up from Monday when the team estimated he wouldn’t have practiced at all. His availability is one to watch, as his presence in the secondary and on special teams is critical for the Green Bay Packers.

Other Key Players on the Injury Report

The Green Bay Packers are dealing with more than just Jacobs and Nixon. The list of limited players is extensive and includes key contributors on both sides of the ball.

  • Wide receiver Jayden Reed (shoulder, foot)
  • Right tackle Zach Tom (back)
  • Wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks (calf)
  • Linebacker Quay Walker (neck)

On the more concerning side, wide receiver Savion Williams (foot), defensive end Lukas Van Ness (foot), and defensive tackle Karl Brooks (ankle) did not participate in practice for the second day in a row. Their absence against a tough Lions team would be a significant blow.

The Green Bay Packers will release their final injury report on Wednesday, which will give a clearer picture of who might suit up for the holiday showdown. For now, it looks like Green Bay will need to dig deep to overcome their injuries and secure a crucial win in the NFC North.
