Not even the elements could stop the Green Bay Packers from preparing for the upcoming 2025 NFL season. On Monday, Green Bay reportedly pushed through with practice at Nitschke Field despite the rain and temperatures hitting around 65.
Packers quarterback Malik Willis didn’t seem to be bothered by the rain, however, saying that he was more focused on more important matters, as Green Bay prepares also for its 2025 NFL preseason finale against the Seattle Seahawks this coming Saturday at Lambeau Field.
“Nobody was like, ‘Oh we’re out here in the rain.’ It was more, we attacked it so that was awesome,” Willis said, per Wes Hodkiewicz of Packers.com. “You don’t really pay attention to it because you’ve got more stuff to worry about. If you worry about the rain, it’s probably going to be a negative play.”
Although Jordan Love has returned to the practice field after undergoing thumb surgery last week, he is not expected to see action against the Seahawks. Instead, Willis appears to be a safe bet to start under center for Green Bay versus Seattle.
Willis saw some action over the weekend at Lucas Oil Stadium against the Indianapolis Colts, passing for 83 yards on 6-of-14 pass completions in a 23-19 victory for the Packers. Taylor Elgersma and Sean Clifford were the other Green Bay quarterbacks who took snaps in the Colts game, a scenario that could repeat itself in the meeting with Seattle.
After the Seattle game, Willis and the Packers will turn their full attention on planning against the Detroit Lions, who will visit Lambeau Field on September 7 for a Week 1 contest.
