Green Bay Packers: Matthew Golden Unleashes on What Sets Him Apart With Confident Claim 1 Green Bay Packers wide receiver Matthew Golden (22) rides a young fan’s bicycle to practice at the Ray Nitschke Field during the second day of training camp on Thursday, July 24, 2025, in Ashwaubenon, Wis.

The Green Bay Packers are about to find out what they have in rookie wide receiver Matthew Golden, which they will in the 2025 NFL season.

But that doesn’t mean they don’t have an idea about his ceiling and the downfield damage he can inflict on opposing defenses in the league.

On Tuesday, the former Texas Longhorns star wideout showed a glimpse of his immense potential when he secured a long pass from quarterback Jordan Love and took it to the house for a 60-yard touchdown.

Green Bay Packers rookie downfield weapon has full belief in his abilities

Golden boasts of an impressive speed, which makes up for his unimposing physique. Standing only 5-foot-11 with a 191-pound frame, Golden posted a blazing 4.29 speed on the 40-yard dash. Among wide receivers, he was fourth in the combine with a total score of 82.

Those numbers surely are feeding Golden confidence outside of the many memories of him torching opposing defensive backs in the past.

“I’m used to making plays like that,” a confident Golden shared, via Packers reporter

Dominique Yates.

“If the ball is anywhere close to me, my mindset is to go get it, no matter where the DB is. I feel like that’s something in my game, even though I’m not the biggest on the field, but I’ve got the mindset to go get the ball. I feel like for me, that’s a big part of my game. I can make contested catches. I can adjust to the ball well. That’s a big part of my game.”

In the 2024 college football season, Golden racked up 987 receiving yards and nine touchdowns on 58 catches across 16 games for the Longhorns.
