Green Bay Packers Matthew Golden Wants To 'Go Get That Lambeau Trophy'
- Green Bay Packers wide receiver Matthew Golden (22) misses the ball during the team's first day of minicamp on June 10, 2025, at Ray Nitschke Field in Ashwaubenon, Wis.

The Green Bay Packers drafted wide receiver Matthew Golden in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft. It was the first time the team had taken a WR in the first round since Javon Walker in 2002. This puts extra pressure on the young receiver from Texas. However, he is incredibly confident in his abilities and the team he is joining. In a recent interview, he detailed what makes him so dangerous and talked about how this team is primed for a Super Bowl run.

Green Bay Packers WR Matthew Golden On Upcoming Season

Lombardi Trophy. Lambeau Trophy. Both have rich roots in the Green Bay Packers organization. The important thing isn’t the name of the trophy. Matthew Golden is ready to help this group of young wide receivers become one of the most dangerous units in the league.

“Definitely want to go get that Lambeau Trophy, man. That’s the question mark we got in our team room is just filling in that blank. That’s the last thing we need in that team room and, for us, that’s all we talk about at practice is getting that trophy. So, we’re doing everything we can each and every day to get to that point and just letting the rest be built up by itself.”

The young wide receivers struggled last year. Drops plagued many of the players, leading to drives stalling against the elite teams in the NFL. The offense has all the tools to succeed, but it has to catch the ball. Golden hopes his skill set can be the missing piece the team needs.

Versatility Of Golden

Matthew Golden has the confidence that he will be ready to help the Green Bay Packers take back the NFC North. In the same interview, he talked about how his versatility is his greatest asset. He can line up all over the field, filling any needs that the team might have.

“Just my versatility, what I can do, I can play anywhere on the field. Just doing what the team needs me to do. That’s what I did at Texas and that’s what I’m going to continue to do. Just being in the position to play for the Green Bay Packers man, it means so much to me.”

Head coach Matt LaFleur is a very creative playcaller and loves having players he can deploy anywhere on the field. Golden can help create nightmare matchups on the field, opening up opportunities for himself or any of the other talented players on the field.

Final Thoughts

The Green Bay Packers believe they have a team that can make a deep postseason run. There are still some question marks, but overall, this team looks ready to show that last year was a down year and not a sign of things to come.
