Just before last season began, there was uncertainty around the future of former Packers running back Aaron Jones. The Packers added Josh Jacobs just before allowing Aaron Jones to hit the market, signing him to a 48-million-dollar contract. Jacobs will continue to be an important part of Green Bay’s offense in 2025.
Jacobs was originally drafted by the now Las Vegas Raiders in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft. As a rookie he earned 242 carries for 1,150 yards and 7 touchdowns. That’s 4.8 yards per carry.
In his NFL career so far, Jacobs has reached 1,000 yards in four out of his six seasons. His most yards were earned in the 2022 season, as he finished with 1,653 yards on 340 carries and 12 touchdowns. That’s a whopping 4.9 yards per carry.
In his most recent season, after becoming a member of the Packers, he finished with 301 carries for 1,329 yards and 15 touchdowns. Jacobs became a reliable piece for the Packers offense.
Jacobs recently made an appearance on a stream in which he was asked “How can we get you to the Dolphins?”. Jacobs immediately replied “I’m good where I’m at… I’m trying to retire with them (Green Bay)”.
In the wildcard round against the Eagles this past season, Jacobs was the only thing that seemed to be working on the Packers offense.

I will say, seeing that play in person was pretty sweet.

Can’t forget his first career receiving touchdown. Lastly, arguably my favorite highlight of last season:
Josh Jacobs confirmed STRONG pic.twitter.com/fORemLJWIf

After Jacobs’ three touchdown performance against San Francisco last season, he stated “The Packers believed in me. They took a chance on me. So every day I come in and try to pour everything I have into this team.”
Arguably no other player on the Packers roster last season “Carried the G” more than Josh Jacobs. The Packers have found their answer at running back for the foreseeable future. As long as health stays on his side, expect another stellar season from Josh Jacobs in 2025.
