The Green Bay Packers had their last practice of training camp marred by massive fights between them and the visiting Seattle Seahawks, who traveled to Wisconsin for a joint practice prior to the weekend’s preseason finale between the two squads. After the dust settled on what was a truly heated day, Packers Pro-Bowler Xavier McKinney spoke about the confrontations and preached that the Packers are keen to be a chippy and aggressive team heading into the season.
Tensions are high around the NFL as both roster cuts and the start of the regular season are fast approaching. For the Green Bay Packers and the Seattle Seahawks, Thursday was not only the last practice of camp, but their chance to unleash themselves on real opponents.
With multiple bench-emptying brawls involving players like Packers linemen Zach Tom and tight end Tucker Kraft, the 11-on-11 period of practice remained violent throughout. Even after practice was over, some of the players still weren’t done going at each other.

Multiple Packers players spoke on the fights by saying that they have no remorse about defending their teammates and sticking up for one another. Rookie offensive linemen Anthony Belton said as much after practice.
“I mean, when there’s a big crowd, you don’t really see what’s going on. Out of instincts, you just want to be there for your teammates.”
If you ask Xavier McKinney, he’ll tell you that both the attitude and identity of the team is reflected in how often they physically confronted the visiting Seahawks.

McKinney mentioned that the team is in a chippy division with a lot of good teams, meaning the Packers will need to be ready to battle it out – although hopefully, most of the physicality can stay in between the lines.
