Greg Olsen Clears Up Rumors About His Relationship With Tom Brady

FOX will broadcast the Super Bowl on Sunday, and things will sound a little bit different than they did two years ago, the last time they had the game.

That year, the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles met just as they will on Sunday, but play-by-play announcer Kevin Burkhardt will have a new broadcast partner in Tom Brady instead of Greg Olsen.

Fans enjoyed Olsen's commentary during his time as the lead color commentator, but he was replaced by Brady after the seven-time Super Bowl champion's retirement and decision to sign with FOX.

Despite the move to get Brady in, and despite him calling his first Super Bowl on Sunday, Olsen says that there are no hard feelings between the two broadcasters.

“I’ve talked to Tom regularly throughout the season," Olsen said in an interview on the NFL Network's "Good Morning Football" on Thursday.

“We’ve gotten to know each other really well. I have a ton of respect for him, which goes without saying, as a player. But I’ve really enjoyed getting to know him as a guy since he’s joined Fox. So, this whole narrative of I hate watching him call games and all that is not true."

Olsen then made sure to set the record straight about Brady ahead of the Super Bowl.

"So, here I am, on national TV … setting the record: I have no personal (animosity). I like Tom. I want to see him. I’ve tried to help him. I answer questions to the best that I can help. But I want to see him do well.”

Olsen won two Sports Emmy Awards in 2023 and 2024 for his work on FOX's NFL broadcasts, and is still on FOX as their No. 2 color commentator.

We'll see what the future holds for Olsen in broadcasting. He could always choose to join another network, and several other channels and streaming services would love to have an Emmy-winning former player calling games.

As for Brady, he will be calling the first of what FOX hopes will be many, many Super Bowls for the network. We'll see if that materializes down the line, but fans can catch the greatest of all time on the call this Sunday at 6:30 PM ET.
