A veteran guard with plenty of starting experience, Cordell Volson and the Tennessee Titans have come to terms on a one-year, $4.215 million contract heading into the 2026 season. Volson was a member of the Cincinnati Bengals for each of his four seasons at the NFL level.

Volson was a member of one of the most prolific dynasties in the history of college football. At North Dakota State, Volson won four national championships over the span of his six seasons. After earning consensus FCS All-American honors, Volson graduated and was selected by the Bengals with the 136th pick of the fourth round in the 2022 NFL Draft.

From the jump, he was brought in to compete for a starting job. By the time the season rolled around, Volson outright won the starting left guard job over second-round pick Jackson Carman. That season, Volson played all 1,107 offensive snaps for the Bengals. He was the only player on the roster to do so (Jonah Williams was right behind him with 1,101). With that experience, Volson looked like a rookie, allowing 38 pressures and five sacks.

Volson retained the starting job for the Bengals the following year. He started all 17 games at left guard and was one of just two Bengals to play all 1,088 offensive snaps on the year. Across those 1,088 snaps, Volson led the Bengals offensive line with 43 pressures allowed and six sacks.

In 2024, Volson entered camp as the starting left guard again for the Bengals. This time, he was not a 17-game starter. Instead, he started 15 games and played all 985 snaps of those matchups. In those other two games, he was benched and did not appear for a single offensive snap. Across those 15 games, Volson allowed 43 pressures resulting in six sacks.

Heading into the 2025 season, Volson earned a pay raise via the performance escalator, but he restructured his deal. The Bengals drafted a left guard to compete with Volson for the starting job. Unfortunately for Volson, he suffered a shoulder injury in training camp that required surgery to repair. He was waived/injured and then reverted back to the Bengals’ Injured Reserve.

If Pro Football Focus is your thing, Volson holds a 59.3 overall grade with a 49.4 pass-blocking grade and a 65.6 run-blocking grade for his career.
