Haason Reddick blasts Mac Jones for 'completely dirty' play that injured Brian Burns

The Carolina Panthers suffered a big loss when pass rusher Brian Burns went down with an ankle injury early in their Week 9 game against the New England Patriots. After the game, Panthers linebacker Haason Reddick pointed the finger at Patriots quarterback Mac Jones for causing the injury.

"I definitely thought it was a dirty play," Reddick told reporters after the game. "I thought it was completely dirty. Hopefully it's something that the league addresses.

"I think it was surprising to see that a penalty wasn't called. It seems like they're always protecting the offensive players; where's the protection for the defensive players, as well? I felt like that was a call that shouldn't be missed. ... It looked completely intentional from where I was standing and I was pretty close."

Jones, 23, was sacked by Burns late in the first quarter and fumbled. In the scramble to recover the fumble, Jones grabbed Burns by the leg and appeared to twist him down to the ground.

Burns eventually returned to the game, but left again when he re-injured the same ankle. His sack of Jones on Sunday upped his season total to 5.5 and resulted in the fifth forced fumble of his career.
