Hannah Einbinder is not just a talented comedian. She is a Philadelphia Eagles devotee through and through. Her fandom is as genuine as a last-second, game-winning field goal. That fire recently came out during a brilliant podcast moment with another famous Eagles fan, Kylie Kelce.
On an episode of her "Not Gonna Lie" podcast, Kelce sat down with Einbinder. Their conversation naturally turned to football. The mic was hot, the rivalry hotter.
The discussion quickly zeroed in on the Eagles' biggest NFC East rival. And Einbinder... she did not hold back. She labeled the Dallas Cowboys' perennial optimism as "utter delusion."
This candid moment has definitely sent waves through the NFL community. Above all, it perfectly vocalizes a sentiment felt by many.
Einbinder began on the topic, and Kelce set the table perfectly. She explained the Cowboys' relentless, "irrational" belief that every year is their year. "I talked about it with Gerard Carmichael—his dad, a Dallas Cowboys fan," Kelce fired.
"We talked about how there is just this relentless belief, and completely irrational, by the way... That this is their year, but then it's every year. So I feel like they're just hedging their bets," she added. And Einbinder immediately agreed with her host's assessment.
“It's utter delusion. It really is,” stated Einbinder. This sums up three decades of Cowboys' disappointment since their last NFC Championship game appearance. The data supports this claim overwhelmingly.
The Cowboys have not hoisted a Lombardi Trophy since the 1995 season. But the conversation then took a hilarious turn.
Einbinder was a former competitive cheerleader. And she took aim at America’s Sweethearts. She questioned the very definition of the Cowboys Cheerleaders. “Those girls are dancers. I would not qualify what that is as cheerleading,” she remarked.
Einbinder then justified her take: "To me, pom poms does not a cheerleader make. That's a distinction that anyone who actually is a cheerleader would understand... They're skilled, and again, God bless them, but it's not cheerleading." She then delivered the knockout punch.
Her favorite part of their Netflix documentary was “you get to just watch them sad on the bus after a loss, and I'm kind of like, this is actually what I'm here for. I'm kind of like, we can watch it because the Dallas Cowboys' terrible season is featured throughout.” For Eagles fans, that is a mood.
Meanwhile, the focus in Philadelphia is on the future... not the past.
Einbinder expressed supreme confidence in her team. She praised quarterback Jalen Hurts' unique mindset: “He is locked in in a way that's crazy.” She also highlighted the impact of the new rookie class. This optimism is well-founded.
The Eagles are the projected favorites to win the NFC East. Their roster remains one of the most complete in the conference. Conversely, the Cowboys are surrounded by uncertainty.
A new head coach and major contract disputes with star Micah Parsons, among others, create a cloudy picture. Their defensive struggles are a known weakness. Particularly against the run. This contrast makes the Eagles' position seem even stronger.
Kelce noted that the Eagles' fight song is a nursery rhyme in her house. It’s the soundtrack to a united community. And that unity is a powerful combination paired with a focused team.
Einbinder’s comments were playful. But they underscore a fundamental truth in sports. Belief must be backed by results. And in Philadelphia, that results-based belief is growing stronger every day.
