Henry Ruggs denied parole in fatal DUI crash case

The Nevada Board of Parole Commissioners denied parole Thursday for former Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Henry Ruggs III, nearly five years after the fatal 2021 DUI crash that killed Tina Tintor and her dog, Max.

Ruggs pleaded guilty in May 2023 to felony DUI causing death and misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter. Prosecutors said he drove up to 156 mph before the crash and had a blood alcohol level of 0.16 percent, twice Nevada’s legal limit.

A judge sentenced Ruggs in August 2023 to three to 10 years in prison. He first became eligible for parole in August 2026.

Ruggs is expected to go before the board again ahead of his mandatory parole release date of Aug. 24, 2027, according to Nevada Board of Parole Commissioners Executive Director Kathi Baker.

The board has not yet posted its June 2026 monthly action report. As of Thursday, the parole board’s public actions page only lists reports through May 2026. Dice City Sports will submit public records requests for the final order, vote record, guideline recommendation, reasons for denial and any releasable hearing materials.

Ruggs’ attorneys, David Chesnoff and Richard Schonfeld, said they were disappointed by the denial. They said Ruggs and their office “continue to feel the grief and loss suffered by Ms. Tintor’s family,” while pointing to what they described as “overwhelming evidence” of Ruggs’ acceptance of responsibility, DUI prevention outreach and educational work while in custody.
