Here are the Cleveland Browns players who could be traded ahead of today’s NFL trade deadline

The NFL trade deadline is Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET, and that means today could be a big day around the league. The Cleveland Browns are one of the teams that could be involved, and you’d think they’d be clear sellers with a 2-6 record on the season.

However, it’s actually been reported that they could be buyers for the future at the deadline. It’s hard to see that happening unless the right deal presents itself. It’s easy to point to the players the Browns could move, and those are the ones I take a look at below.

RB Jerome Ford

This could be the most likely player to be traded if a buyer emerges. Ford’s only real value to the Browns right now is his ability to pass block on third down. Cleveland has gone full speed ahead with Quinshon Judkins, which has proven to be the right move. Rookie Dylan Sampson has also seen time, and the Browns clearly have an eye toward the future at the position. Ford is in the final year of his rookie deal, and a return next season seems unlikely.

TE David Njoku

The rise of Harold Fannin Jr. makes Njoku more expendable than ever. Fannin leads the Browns with 352 receiving yards and is their top option going forward at tight end. Njoku remains a very good player and could fetch a mid-round draft pick if Cleveland decided to move him. So far this season — in what is the final year of his contract — Njoku has 260 receiving yards and two touchdowns in seven games. Still, I’m leaning toward Njoku sticking around past the deadline.

DT Shelby Harris

A 10-plus-year veteran on a one-year deal with a struggling team, this one’s a pretty easy call. The Browns should trade Harris if a contender comes calling. The 34-year-old could provide solid depth and veteran leadership to a playoff-caliber defense. With Mike Hall Jr. now healthy behind Mason Graham and Maliek Collins, the Browns have depth at the position to make a move possible.

RG Wyatt Teller

Another player I don’t necessarily expect to be traded — but one who could be. Teller is in the final year of his contract, and Cleveland is likely headed toward some sort of offensive line overhaul this offseason. If the right offer comes in, Teller could be part of that transition.

DE Alex Wright

I’m of the belief that the Browns should extend Wright, as he’s shown his value this season and proven what kind of player he can be when healthy. Wright has been a strong complement to Myles Garrett and has a career-high three sacks so far. However, this is his fourth year on his rookie deal, and the Browns may have to decide between him and Isaiah McGuire when it comes to future roster building. With pass rushers always in demand, Wright could draw interest from several teams.

S Rayshawn Jenkins

Jenkins has already been reported as a player drawing interest from teams ahead of the deadline. He’s been the Browns’ No. 3 safety this season and has provided great value on special teams as well. It wouldn’t be a surprise if the Browns moved the nine-year veteran for a late-round pick. There are certainly other teams where Jenkins could take on a bigger role.
