Here's How Many People Received Shedeur Sanders' Phone Number

Following a string of prank calls made to NFL Draft prospects, onlookers have wondered how many people receive a player's phone number beforehand. It could reportedly be a substantial amount.

Shedeur Sanders was one of several players pranked during last week's draft. Jax Ulbrich, the son of Atlanta Falcons defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich, was filmed with another college-aged man pretending to be New Orleans Saints general manager Mickey Loomis while on the phone with the quarterback. The caller indicated the Saints would take Sanders, only to reverse course and abruptly hang up.

Sanders received the call on a new number designated for NFL teams to use during the draft. The league directly sent the contact information to teams.

According to Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio, the same people who receive the league's daily transaction report received the email with Sanders's phone number. A "high-level source" with an NFL team other than the Falcons estimated that 60 staffers per team received the message. Another source guessed that the number is higher than 60.

Using the 60 estimate for all 32 teams, 1,920 people would have received the number.

"As one source told us on Wednesday night, even the equipment managers received the email with Sanders's new number," Florio wrote.

The Falcons said in a statement that Jax "unintentionally came across" the number on his father's open iPad. He admitted to the prank and apologized on Instagram.

"I'm so sorry I took away from your moment, it was selfish and childish," Jax wrote. "I could never imagine getting ready to celebrate one of the greatest moments of your life, and I made a terrible mistake and messed with that moment."

On Wednesday, the league fined the Falcons $250,000 and docked Jeff Ulbrich $100,000 for "failing to prevent the disclosure of confidential information." Jeff Ulbrich apologized for the "inexcusable" data breach and said he won't appeal the penalty.

"It's something that I brought upon myself and my son brought upon himself," Ulbrich said. "So it's one of those things where we got to take this on the chin and we absolutely are doing that and taking full responsibility, and I'm hopeful we'll grow and be better because of it."
