During the runup to Super Bowl 59, Pat Mahomes Sr. got into an altercation with John Rocker on the street in New Orleans.

At the time, many assumed that the dustup between the two former MLB relief pitchers was staged. Mahomes and Rocker don't like each other, but immediately rumors began flying that the two had agreed to a fight in an upcoming edition of Barstool Sports' Rough N' Rowdy. Sure enough, Barstool CEO Dave Portnoy confirmed as much last week.

"It’s official. The paperwork was signed today. Pat Mahomes Sr. vs John Rocker at Rough N Rowdy. April 19th. Real bad blood," Portnoy said.

According to a new report from TMZ, Mahomes himself admitted that to court officials that the incident with Rocker was staged.

Mahomes, who is on probation after pleading guilty to a charge of DWI third or more, was permitted to attend the Super Bowl and watch his son Patrick play, but he missed a scheduled urine test on Feb. 11 as a result of the trip.

"According to the docs, the officials were slated to admonish Mahomes Sr. for his behavior ... although, in an apparent effort to avoid trouble, the Chiefs quarterback's dad fessed that the Rocker incident "was a staged altercation to get publicity for [a] celebrity boxing match that was set to take place in April 2025," TMZ wrote.

Pretty embarrassing, but at least Mahomes Sr. is going to be compensated fairly well. His pay for the fight will reportedly start at $85,000 with the potential for more depending on the final Pay Per View numbers.

Some additional good news for Mahomes Sr. is that when he finally took his urine test on Feb. 12, it came back negative, so he has been complying with his probation guidelines.

Mahomes and Rocker apparently agreed to their fight back on Jan. 17, a few weeks before it was announced.

Rocker is claiming however that Patrick Mahomes and his camp are "doing everything in their power to try and pull Pat Sr out of this fight."
