Holland Explains Kicking Rocks Video
USA TODAY Sports

Jevon Holland says it was all a big coincidence.

The Miami Dolphins safety attracted a lot of attention with his Instagram video showing him kicking some rocks after the announcement that the team had "parted ways" with defensive coordinator Vic Fangio.

"Kicking rocks," of course, is a colloquial expression along the lines of "get out of here and don't let the door hit you on the way out."

But Holland says his video had nothing to do with Fangio.

"Nah, man, it just so happened that I had I posted that right when the news came out that Vic got fired," Holland told WSVN sports reporter Josh Moser at a community event in Orlando on Thursday. "I wasn't necessarily sure that Vic got fired until after I posted the video. It just so happened that I picked up some random rocks, kicked them and filmed it, posted it on Instagram.

"Everybody wants to call me the bad guy. I'm innocent. I didn't do anything wrong. All I was doing was just posting a simple video, you know, as an analogy but that analogy had nothing to do with Vic.. I wish that brother the best."

Hmm.

Pretty strange coincidence, no, especially considering it's been well established that Fangio wasn't exactly popular with a lot of his players?

Not surprisingly, Holland's words were met with a lot of skepticism in the comments section.

The "kicking rocks" video, incidentally, is now gone.
