Two days after the Dallas Cowboys picked Tyler Guyton in the 2024 NFL Draft, he moved into an Airbnb to train with renowned offensive line coach Duke Manyweather.
Considered an OL guru by many NFL stars and coaches, Manyweather spends his time training Draft prospects and current starters, mostly during the offseason. His annual "OL Masterminds Summit" is one of the most respected offseason events among players, with a plethora of NFL players—experienced and inexperienced—in attendance.
Thanks to his location in the Dallas area, the Cowboys have been able to tap into his work with multiple lineman, including La'el Collins, Tyler Smith, Tyler Biadasz, Terence Steele, and many others.
This is all to say when Manyweather weighs in on a player he's worked with, he's worth listening to. And in the weekend leading up to the 2025 NFL Draft, he shared an unexpected take on Guyton, who had an up-and-down season as a rookie, being benched multiple times throughout the season by Mike McCarthy.
Asked about Guyton's caliber of play next season, Manyweather took a rain check and admitted the young tackle had plenty to figure out.
"Honestly don't know," Manyweather posted on X. "He's got a lot to figure out to take the leap. That's up to HIM!!!"

Manyweather's post has predictably caused a lot of reactions from fans and content creators. The message isn't exactly promising as he's essentially shrugging his shoulders and admitting that second-year leap might not be as close as one would expect from a first-round talent with 670 NFL snaps under his belt.
For "Big Duke" to say he doesn't know what to make of his development, it leaves the door open for speculation that things aren't going great for the young lineman.
But the part that really catches my attention is the last one. "That's up to HIM!!!" Considering he was surprisingly benched late in the season as the Cowboys rotated tackles in-game and involved Chuma Edoga and Asim Richards at the position despite Guyton needing the snaps, the all-caps "him" placing accountability on the young player is relevant.
Fortunately for Guyton, the Cowboys coaching staff seems to be more optimistic than Manyweather.
“I see a tremendous talent who has, quite honestly, not been playing a lot of OL," new Cowboys OL coach Conor Riley said earlier in the year. "The sky is truly the limit for a young man like that.”
For the offense to work adequately, the Cowboys better hope Guyton gets significantly closer to the sky by September.
